“We can test the different ideas quickly, as we base the design on accurate simulation data and we can optimise the design to make it cheaper – while taking into account all security requirements from ities, price requirements from operators and so on,” explains Jens Chr. Bennetsen, Head of Ramboll’s Centre of Excellence for Advanced Simulations.
He has worked with CFD for more than 25 years – and the technology just keeps getting better.
“Just as meteorologists can predict the weather, we can use CFD to predict how the wind will blow, how smoke will move and what happens when a train passes in and out of a tunnel,” Jens continues.
One fundamental benefit is that complex results can be visualised in a way that is easy to understand. With CFD you can “see the unseen” and thereby enhance the insight that decisions are based on.
